NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

Working To Keep Down Crime, And The Fear Of Crime.

Neighbourhood Watch is well-established in Silver End.  The streets covered by the scheme generally have Neighbourhood Watch signs in them, and include all or parts of the following: Daniel Way, Valentine Way, Wood Grove, Broadway, Silver Street, Runnacles Street, Bristol Court, Broomfield, and Francis Way – the list is not static.

We are always seeking new Street Co-ordinators to run a Neighbourhood Watch in their street, and anyone interested is very welcome to make an enquiry.  Contact details are at the end.

What is Neighbourhood Watch?  For all practical purposes, Neighbourhood Watch is a network of ordinary house owners that have decided to be part of the scheme.  Each street, or part of a street, has a Street Co-ordinator to run its Neighbourhood Watch, and an Area Co-ordinator keeps the Street Co-ordinators informed of recent crimes, scams, etc, so all watch members can be forewarned.

Neighbourhood Watch Street Co-ordinators do not have to do anything other than distribute occasional information to the houses in the street or part of the street they are covering.  They can chose to cover as small or as large a patch as they like.  The N Watch Members need do no more than be willing to receive this occasional information.  However if anyone does notice a problem, or has useful information, it would of course be much appreciated if it were reported it to the police,

All incidents (eg bogus callers, burglars, car crime, etc) which might be of interest to Silver End residents, are regularly passed on to the Area Co-ordinator by Braintree Police.  This information is then passed on to all Street Co-ordinators to pass on to the houses in the street or part of the street they are covering.  It can give much peace of mind knowing what to look out for and when.

If anyone (whether or not a member of Neighbourhood Watch) wants to report on, or has information on, any crimes or other incidents please can they call the Police “non-emergency” number 0300 3334444, and/or the Neighbourhood Policing Team 07974 457258, and/or the PCSO 07974 457258.  If any incident is taking place, always phone 999 and ask for the police.  Ask for a crime report number, and keep a record of this and the time of your call.  (Information taken by the police is generally kept in confidence but, if you want guaranteed anonymity, report crimes, incidents, or information to Crimestoppers 0800 555111).
